The wide-spread adoption of microservices in cloud-native applications has brought distributed tracing to the forefront of modern observability. Using a unique 100% automated distributed tracing, Lumigo enables developers to debug modern, containerized cloud applications.
We’re looking for a highly-motivated OpenTelemetry expert to further develop the Lumigo Distributions of OpenTelemetry (currently available for Node and Python) and contribute to the upstream OpenTelemetry project. We are looking for candidates with a strong background on distributed tracing. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with multiple programming languages, and open to learn more if need arises.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of the Lumigo Distributions of OpenTelemetry for Node and Python
- Establish a new Lumigo Distributions of OpenTelemetry, for Java or .NET
- Be a known point-of-contact for the OpenTelemetry community and project
What we expect:
- Ability to design, research, and implement complex client-side monitoring functionality
- Good understanding how the current practices of monitoring cloud-native software (especially containerized applications)
- Expert-level understanding of OpenTelemetry tracing (data model, semantic conventions, how instrumentation works)
- Expertise in Java or .NET (Core / 6+)
- Working knowledge of Node.js or Python
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
Will be a plus:
- Experience working in a startup company
- Working knowledge of metrics in OpenTelemetry and Prometheus
- Experience running software at scale and what it takes to monitor it effectively
- Experience in participating in OSS projects and communities
- Experience in working with AWS services like Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS
