Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience as a MySQL DBA.
- Experience with high-traffic, high-availability MySQL environments.
- Experience with MySQL performance tuning, query optimisation, and backup/recovery strategies.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL internals, such as query execution, indexing, locking, and transaction handling.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of MySQL database administration and management.
- Experience with database design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix or Icinga.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Expertise in SQL programming and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of data modelling, database normalisation, and indexing.
Optional Skills:
- Experience with Amazon RDS, including setting up, configuring, and managing RDS instances.
- Familiarity with RDS features such as automated backups, database replication, and read replicas.
- Experience with RDS monitoring and troubleshooting using CloudWatch and RDS event notifications.
- Knowledge of RDS security features such as IAM roles, SSL encryption, and VPC security groups.
- Knowledge of AWS services and architecture.
- Understanding of AWS networking concepts such as VPC, subnets, and security groups.
- Familiarity with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and security best practices.
